Welcome to the 2026 Conference

The Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies (HL-senteret), Norway, and the Institute for Holocaust research in Sweden (IHRS) warmly welcomes scholars, curators and educators in the field of Holocaust Studies and Education to the conference Survivors of the Holocaust. Testimonies, Experiences, Narratives in Stockholm on March 12, 2026.

Professor Malin Thor Tureby of Malmö University (photo) will give the keynote entitled “From Milk Cans to Holograms. The Survivors and the Making of Nordic Holocaust Historiography and Public Memory”, reflecting on how Holocaust survivors have contributed to documenting and remembering the Holocaust during the last 80 years in a Nordic Context. We have a full programme with interesting papers presenting new research on survivors as well as poster presentations. See the programme here: IHRS HL-Senteret Conference 2026 Programme

The Conference is open to the public and free of charge but pre-registration is requested. If you like to participate as audience please send an e-mail to info@ihrs.se

On the evening before the conference, Judisk kultur i Sverige and the IHRS presents the Concert Mir zaynen do! We survivied! which is a musical tribute that brings back to life the vibrant Yiddish repertoire performed by Jewish singers and actors in Sweden in the immediate aftermath of the Holocaust. Many of these songs have not been heard since they were first performed more than seventy years ago. Read more about the concert and how to get tickets here.

Warmly welcome!
