Conference Programme is public
The interest in the conference Sweden and the Holocaust in a Scandinavian Context. Local and Regional Aspects arranged by the IHRS and the HL-senteret has been overwhelming and we are therefore happy to announce the programme. The conference will include four sessions where new research is presented, a panel discussion on meeting the challenges for the Swedish Holocaust Museum and a cultural programme. The venue of the conference will be Historiska museet on 17 June 2022. The paper presentations deals with new research on amongst other things the mass-violence in Norway at the time of the deportation of the Norwegian Jews, the importance of gender and sexuality in the treatment of female survivors in Swedish internment camps, early Holocaust memory in Sweden and rewards given to Danish informants who revealed hiding places of Danish Jewish refugees. Dr. Jan Lambertz of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, USHMM, will give the keynote lecure on War Zones, Neutral Zones: Reconstructing the Holocaust through Local Encounters and the participants in the panel discussion on the challenges for the Swedish Holocaust Museum are Dr. Emile Schrijver, General Director of National Holocaust Museum, the Netherlands, Dr. Jan Lambertz, Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, USHMM, Professor Guri Hjeltnes, Director of HL-senteret, Norway and Dr. Katherine Hauptman, Director of the Swedish Holocaust Museum.
